Beautiful White Cake With A Teddy Bear And Blue Balloons At A Baby Shower

Shower & Sprinkle Ideas

You’re almost ready to see your baby in a few weeks or short months, and it’s time to celebrate! Work with your family and friends who will be hosting the shower to let them know your hopes and desires for the event to honor you and your baby using these ideas.

Step 1: Decide the Type of Event

  • A party with just the girlfriends, sisters, and future grandmas
  • Bring everyone together with a co-ed shower
  • Large events at specialty-rented locations or large venues
  • Virtually-hosted through online platforms or video calls
  • Drive-throughs with the driveway decorated and family and friends who drive by and deliver presents
  • Wanting another party after baby comes? Plan for a Sip and See where guests can meet the baby once you’re home and settled.

Step 2: Considerations

  • Think about your or the host’s budgets and capabilities
  • Guest count and how that determines venue, food,
  • Time of day and length of the party
  • Experience-desired: is it a mix and mingle or organized games and gift-opening-watching
  • Gift desires: Do you want purchases from a registry, donations toward a personal fund or charity of choice, or guests to simply stock your baby’s book collection?
  • Favors and keepsakes for guest takeaways

Step 3: Invitations, Theme, and Registry Creation

  • Work with your friends and family to set a date and time for the event at least a month in advance to allow guests the time to put the event on their schedule.
    • Decide on a theme together so invitations can appropriately match.
  • Decide if traditional invitations will be mailed, digital invitations will be emailed or sent through a digital invitation platform, or an image will be texted with information to guests. Use our cute pre-designed invitations by downloading them here.
  • Create a guest list and collect contact information based on the chosen delivery method.
  • Check with the hosts after they send out invitations to see if there is anyone who you need to remind to RSVP.

Step 4: Themes & Creative Ideas

  • Theme based on your nursery theme
  • Storybook or Wonderland: pick one story or many leaning into the idea of imagination (and have guests bring books as a gift to “stock the baby library”)
  • Jungle/Mountains/Ocean theme: decorating with prints and colors inspired by a place
  • Floral or Garden theme: “growing” themes with floral arrangements, gardening decorations, and pastels
  •  Celestial and Dreamy: decorate with clouds, moons, and stars with silver and gold
  • Travel and Exploration: decorate with passport and pictures, stacked suitcases, and Oh the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss.
  • Ready to Pop: playful theme celebrating everything that pops, like balloons, popcorn, candy, bubbles, etc.
  • Themes based on foods and being outdoors, like Barbecue, tailgate/grilling, picnic foods, and outdoor pizza-making and yard games  (co-ed and accommodate larger groups)
