Pregnancy is a powerful and beautiful experience that is unique to women. It is an incredible process of growth that typically lasts 40 weeks. During this time, a woman’s body prepares to bring a baby into the world.
If you are pregnant, there are steps you can take to prepare – because a healthy mom means a healthy baby. Establish a health care provider to initiate prenatal care to make sure your pregnancy is healthy and strong from the start.
Pregnancy includes three important stages called trimesters. Each of these trimesters include changes to the mom’s and baby’s bodies. Each pregnancy is different, but the information presented here outlines what can typically be expected during each trimester.
During the first trimester of pregnancy your body is working hard to develop you baby’s organs and body systems. These changes are very important to the health of your baby and can trigger signs that you may be pregnant.
The second trimester of pregnancy is often referred to as the “honeymoon” period because many women experience relief from the more challenging sensations of the first trimester. You may be able to see your baby bump.
In the third trimester of pregnancy, nesting instincts may begin to start kicking in. It can also be both physically and emotionally challenging as your belly has grown. Soon, you’ll hold your baby in your arms!
